Ericsson, one of the world's leading providers of information and communications technology, took the three winners of the Ericsson Award for Academic Production on Intellectual Property to visit the company's global headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, a country that ranks among the 15 best in the world, according to the International Property Rights Index (IPRI) in 2022. The objective of the initiative is to encourage research in a key area for the country's economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the trip, the three were able to learn more details about the work that Ericsson carries out in the area of Patents and Intellectual Property and brought back an extremely rich baggage, full of new knowledge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The experience at Ericsson's headquarters in Stockholm was fantastic. It truly was a life-changing experience. We were able to meet the employees and all the technological advancements the company produces. I saw up close all the equipment that makes Ericsson a cutting-edge company in the field of 5G and other technologies," says Gabriel Ara\u00fajo Solto, who took first place in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victor Habib Lantyer de Mello Alves, who came in second place, shared a similar opinion. According to him, it was an opportunity to interact with some of Ericsson's most talented and experienced professionals. "I would like to express my gratitude to all of them for sharing their experiences and knowledge, giving me a broader and deeper insight into the industry and the company. This visit to Ericsson will certainly leave an impact on my professional and academic journey," he comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ericsson Award for Academic Production on Intellectual Property \u2013 <\/strong>The initiative received more than 50 submissions from 17 different Brazilian states, with articles addressing one of the following topics: the role of intellectual property in fostering innovation; the role of intellectual property in the success of the Internet of Things (IoT); and the contribution of intellectual property related to 2G to 5G standards to innovation in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The submitted texts were analyzed considering the following criteria: clarity, originality, appropriate language, presentation, adequacy of content to the chosen theme, compliance with grammatical rules, use of empirical articles and analysis of jurisprudence and market trends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners and topics of the articles: The winners were, in 1st place \u2013 Gabriel Ara\u00fajo Solto with the theme \u201cFrom Conflict to Conciliation of Interests: The Role of Intellectual Property Related to 2G to 5G Standards in the Development of the Internet of Things\u201d; in 2nd place \u2013 Victor Habib Lantyer de Mello Alves with the theme \u201cThe Role of Intellectual Property in Fostering Innovation: A Legal Perspective on Creations by Artificial Intelligence\u201d and, in 3rd place \u2013 Moacir Ribeiro da Silva with the theme \u201cThe Scarcity of Innovation and Intellectual Property in the Carnauba Wax Extraction Chain in the Semi-Arid Region and its Urgent Applicability as a Vector of Social Transformation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
